I MUST express my disappointment at the rejection of the judicial review for the Karim family (LT, March 21).

The situation is one of total hypocrisy from the Home Office who, by their relentless actions in this matter, have defied their own objectives in favour of meeting statistical targets.

It is outrageous that they have targeted this family who have not only integrated into this region but have thousands of people in support of them to promote their genuine case of asylum.

The Home Office have missed the whole point of why Britain allows people to seek asylum. It is unbelievable that they are continuing to try and deport genuine people and yet do not use half as much vigour in trying to deport the people who really are abusing the system.

The only way that they are going to see that this is actually a real case is if they are killed.

One member of the family has already been killed and members of the church in Britain have visited the country to investigate faith relations there and reported concern for Christians' safety.

Of course this cannot be generalised as what happens in the whole of Pakistan, but what can be recognised is that the threat is real and that it cannot be ignored as is being demonstrated.

Action has and is being taken to create as much support for the Karims as possible and this will continue.

Due to having links with the Holy Saviour Parish website, www.holysaviour.org.uk information and ways to help and support the family are online now and will be constantly updated when new information is available.

It will be widely known that the Karims are active members of Holy Saviour Church.

I would ask that people keep the family in their thoughts and prayers and show your support for them.

May the fight for true justice for the family continue.

KATHERINE PARKER, Helmsdale Road, Nelson.
