REGARDING the Lewis Textile Museum, the words which need to be looked at are "council" and "grant".
Someone's eyes must have lit up on the committee when they found out that the council had no money to keep the museum open, but a change of use could get them a grant of £500,000 for repairs.
The fact that this was left to the town means nothing to most on the council.
The saving of £23,000 a year must only count for the first year.
You can't budget for something you don't have in the next year's budget.
If they do find a covenant in the deeds that will not affect the decision in the least.
If the council wants something to happen it happens.
