ON ITV 1 on December 27 there was a programme called "ABBA Thank You For The Music" probably one of only three or four programmes worth watching over the festive period.

It was fabulous to see and hear so much talent, but the outstanding thing was when Anni-Frid Lynstad said of her career with ABBA: "I believe that at the pinnacle of our career we were worth more than the Volvo organisation."

Now that's some achievement! Now at the other end of the less talented, less creative, less imaginative scale we have the likes of Tony Blair, John Prescott, Gordon Brown and Margaret Becket.

What could they possibly say that they have accomplished during their careers; could it be that they have managed with great aplomb to make their country the laughing stock of the world.

This they have done time and time again and unfortunately for us very successfully.
