AFTER six months of digging, water giant United Utilities is putting the lid on a huge hole in the road in Knuzden.
Engineers have been working at Cornwall Avenue since the summer to carve out a giant underground storm water tank.
The tank, which can hold a massive 300 cubic meters of water, will stop local properties from being flooded, by capturing excess water when there is heavy rain.
Now £20,000 is being spent to revamp the site with planting and bird boxes.
The make-over has come courtesy of United Futures – a regeneration programme run by United Utilities and environmental charity Groundwork.
Mark Clinton, from United Utilities, said: “We wanted to thank people for their patience, by transforming the site into an attractive community feature.”
