A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy has had his brave battle with cancer shared nationwide after appearing on the Jeremy Kyle show.

Charlie Procter, from Church, has been battling lung and liver cancer and appeared on the popular ITV daytime show on Thursday.

His parents Amber Schofield and Ben Procter appeared on the show, titled ‘my child is my inspiration’ to share their story from when Charlie first became ill.

The episode was filmed just before Charlie was set for his liver operation in May.

He is now in remission.

Mum Amber Schofield said on the show: “It’s about awareness. We were oblivious.

“It started with a swollen stomach when he was two. We thought it was constipation.

“We grew up instantly. Everyday is a bonus.”

Father Ben Procter said: “Life didn’t seem fun anymore, before he was diagnosed it was ace.”

Charlie could be heard giggling in the background when Mr Kyle was talking to his parents, and high fived the host after being brought on stage.

Charlie was greeted on the show by Accrington Stanley mascot ‘Winstanley’ who brought some gifts for the four-year-old.

He was then given a scarf, football and four season tickets.

Show staff also brought on a selection of toys for the youngster such as power ranger figures.

Mother-of-two Miss Schofield said: “It was great going down there, we were a bit nervous at first but everyone made us feel so welcome.

“It was even better watching it back on TV.

“Charlie is doing great now, it’s amazing.”

The parents also spoke out on the show about some of the internet abuse they faced over their fundraising campaign to send Charlie to America for treatment

At the time the family had raised around £110,000 but were targeted by‘trolls’ on social media messages.

Miss Schofield said: “People have been accusing us of being fake.”

Charlie had previously been told that he had just a 20 per cent of survival following his diagnosis with Hepatoblastoma, a rare form of liver cancer.

He had faced more than 20 rounds of chemotherapy before new surgery in Birmingham became an option earlier this year.
