AN open meeting will take place later this month to discuss future plans for Accrington town centre.

People in the area are being invited to the meeting to discuss ideas for types of events they would like in the new £2million square which will be completed later this year.

Anyone interested should attend the meeting at 6pm in the Queen Elizabeth Room at Scaitcliffe House in Ormerod Street, Accrington, on Monday, January 29.

The concept of the town square began with an initial funding application in 2012 and will be completed by autumn 2018.

The scheme will see the front of the Market Hall and Town Hall transformed to commemorate the sacrifice and bravery of the Accrington Pals.

It will also include the restoration of historic retail and commercial buildings in the town centre.

Anyone who would like to submit ideas should email victoria.ingham@hyndburnbc.gov.uk.
