Suspicious fire at former Accrington nightclub

Fire crews were called to the Cannon Street building at around 10.45pm after police noticed smoke coming from the 19th century building.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus dealt with the fire and they used two ventilation units to clear smoke.

Fire officials said the blaze was small and was out within half an hour, but a further investigation is now taking place, as it is thought to have been started deliberately.
