SECONDARY pupils in Accrington have raised money for charity by completing a sleepover at the school.

Mount Carmel students slept overnight in the school hall to raise money for charity.

The 71 Year 7 pupils received more than £700 in sponsorship from family and friends, which will be donated to the East Lancashire Hospice.

During the evening they played games, competed in quizzes, participated in team challenges and watched a Christmas film.

The sleepover was organised by achievement manager for Year 7, Mrs Lowe.

Seven members of staff assisted and members of the school Parent Teacher Association came along at supper time to serve hot chocolate and Vimto.

Toast and crumpets were served for breakfast the following morning by the school catering staff, donated by Warburtons.

A school spokesman said: “Thank-you to our school community for supporting these worthy causes.”
