THE air ambulance was called to assist with over 200 serious incidents throughout the month of September, the latest figures show.
Of those, 67 were car crashes, 33 were medical emergencies, three were incidents involving sporting activities, 57 were accidents, three were hospital transfers and a further 59 were 'other' missions.
The incidents were logged all across the North West, from Lancashire to Merseyside, Cumbria to Greater Manchester.
So far this year, crews have been called to 598 incidents in Lancashire with only Greater Manchester wracking up more call-outs - 754.
This year to date, specialist paramedics, doctors and pilots have attended 1984 incidents.
Paramedic Piers Peberdy said: "“With every mission, we see the difference our service makes to a patient when they need us the most. In a split second, unexpected things can happen that might change someone’s life forever.
“We provide advanced pre-hospital care to critically ill and injured patients across the North West, and by bringing the hospital to the patient we can be there for them when they need us the most."
