A PENSIONER was last night in the intensive care unit of Royal Blackburn Hospital after falling into a reservoir.

The 71-year-old woman fell into Lower Rhoddlesden Reservoir in Tockholes, between Tockholes Road and Bolton Road, while walking her dog with a friend at 3.30pm.

The woman’s friend raised the alarm after she slid down and fell into the water.

Police vehicles and fire crews attended the scene, together with members of Bolton Mountain Rescue.

The woman, who is thought to have suffered head injuries, was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where she was being cared for in the ICU.
