A waterwheel at Turton Tower has been moved by crane to a new site in Edgworth.
The 1830s wheel originally came from a demolished mill at Turton Bottoms in the 1980s but it had fallen into disrepair and was causinTurton Tower g structural damage.
It now rests at a green by a ‘Welcome to Edgworth’ sign in Bury Road.
Coun Jean Rigby and the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers successfully applied for a £55,096 grant from landfill company Biffa for the scheme, and using £15,000 the wheel was restored by local contractor John Wilkinson.
Coun Rigby said: “People are saying it looks absolutely amazing. It’s part of our heritage.”
