A CORONER has opened the inquest into the death of a Bolton man whose charred remains were found in the burned out shell of a car at Turton Tower.
Workers alerted the fire service and police after they spotted the Hyundai car smouldering on September 3.
An inquest in Blackburn heard the police are satisfied the body is that of 28-year-old Mark James Pye, of Campbell Court, Farnworth, Bolton, but that formal confirmation is still to be done by DNA comparison.
The hearing was told that Mr Pye, who has been suffering from bi-polar disease for the past 10 years, went to work as a fitter but on arrival had spoken to his employer and then left in his car.
The car was later found burned out on Witton Weavers Way, off Greenarms Road, Turton..
