NEW arrangements have come into force at Blackburn with Darwen's leisure centres in an attempt to maximise attendance at classes.

From this week, members at Darwen Leisure Centre, Blackburn Sports and Leisure Centre and Witton Park Arena wanting to cancel a booked class will have to do so at least three hours before the session starts.

Failure to do so will result in a ‘strike’ automatically being applied to the customer’s account. Three strikes in a 30-day rolling period will result in suspension of booking privileges for 30 days.

A spokesman for Blackburn with Darwen Leisure Services said: “We are aware that it is frustrating when classes show as full but not everyone who books shows up or cancels in time.

“This gives members on the waiting list more chance to access sessions.”

Members have been warned that the system changes involved may bring disruption. The spokesman added: “We’ll be working hard to minimise any disruption during the changeover period.”

Once everything is completed members will still be able to book through the app. Individual membership areas will be added and more will be able to be booked online, including courts.

Members have also been reminded that the new system will require everyone to check in by card, so all visitors are urged to keep their membership card handy for when they arrive.
