EDGWORTH’S Wellbeing Farm has applied for planning permission to build ‘wedding gazebo’.

It wants to site the special timber building to conduct outdoor marriage ceremonies in summer on a field to the south of its stone barn.

The business on Plantation Road with the village has lodged a planning application with Blackburn with Darwen Council.

In January last year the farm received a licence allowing weddings to be conducted on the premises as well as hosting receptions for happy couples.

They are now the main business of the farm, opened in April 2013.

A Design and Access statement submitted to borough planners says: “In addition to the traditional wedding ceremonies offered within the barn there have been increasing numbers of requests for an outdoor wedding.

“The proposal is to erect a timber gazebo within the field parcel directly in front of the stone barn.

This would allow weddings to be carried out in the open air in the summer months.

Guests would be seated around the gazebo with chairs only being set out for the actual marriage ceremony.”.

It hosted 40 weddings last year, mainly in its stone barn.
