DARWEN MP Jake Berry welcomed a proposal to prevent wind turbines that would ‘dominate’ Darwen Tower.
As reported in the Lancashire Telegraph, Blackburn with Darwen Council has come up with new guidelines for turbine developers.
It said key considerations were the effect on the landscape and local homes, highlighting the tower as a key view across the borough.
Mr Berry said: “I was really pleased the council’s officers have been proactive in preventing further blights on our town’s landscape. “Darwen Tower is one of the defining features of our town and we need to protect it. “Anyone who, like me, crosses the Grane Road and sees the huge wind turbines built there will understand how important it is to protect our beautiful countryside.
“I have been leading calls in Westminster to ensure that no wind turbines are built in residential areas and I hope ministers will listen to this.”
