THE GOLDEN glow from cycling sensation Bradley Wiggins’ astounding Olympic triumph reflected through his adopted home town yesterday.

Wiggins, 32, became the first individual to be nominated for the Freedom Of The Borough of Chorley in the hours after his victory.

And yesterday Royal Mail celebrated Bradley Wiggins Olympic gold medal win by painting two iconic red post boxes gold in Chorley and Eccleston.

They will paint the red post boxes gold to celebrate at the home town of every Team GB and ParalympicsGB gold medal winner.

It is the first occasion in modern times when Royal Mail has changed the colour of its post boxes.

The iconic red post boxes were transformed in the Carrington Centre, Eccleston and at Market Street, Chorley. The gold boxes will remain in use and customers will be able to post mail in these boxes as normal.

Mail collections from the boxes will also be unaffected.

Chorley ice cream maker Frederick’s also released a new Wiggo flavour product. The ice cream is banana and honeycomb, in honour of his Tour de France winning yellow jersey, and the honeycomb for his gold success.
