Property and cash stolen from police stations in Chorley accounted for half of all thefts from police premises in Lancashire last year.
According to information obtained by the Chorley Citizen under the Freedom of Information Act, three of the six reported theft crimes in 2008 at Lancashire Constabulary stations occurred in the town.
During the year a mobile telephone worth £105 stolen from Chorley police station while a cash sum of £135 stolen from Coppull police station.
Neither of these crimes have been detected by officers.
In another reported crime, three police hats and high visibility jacket stolen from Chorley police station for which a culprit was found.
The information supplied was obtained by searching the constabulary’s crime system for Lancashire Constabulary as place of offence, the business and the address.
