TWO teachers from a Chorley school have entered the Guinness Book of Records.

Emma Flight and Anthony Hoskins were accompanying children on Parklands High School’s annual rewards trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach when they stumbled across the opportunity to break a record.

Food and nutrition teacher Miss Flight now holds the record for hooking 10 ducks the fastest and science teacher Mr Hoskins knocked over five cans with a Nerf gun in the fastest time ever.

Miss Flight, who completed the record attempt in 37 seconds, smashing the previous record of 40 seconds, said: “To be honest it was just a bit of fun at first.

“I wasn’t particularly confident in that event as I don’t have the steadiest of hands but decided to have a go anyway.

“The official attempt put me under pressure as I was on stage in front of a crowd and interviewed.

“I found it hilarious that I’d actually received a Guinness world record certificate for hooking ducks.

“Overall, it was a fantastic opportunity although I’m confident I could beat my record of 37 seconds.”

Mr Hoskins added: “I was just playing for a bit of fun with other staff and pupils from Parklands.

“I never expected to win anything.

“It was great fun but I can’t imagine the record will stay mine for too long.”

Parklands took around 450 pupils on the Blackpool Pleasure Beach trip, which was open to all pupils who achieved excellent attendance and no lates in the summer term.

Headteacher Steve Mitchell said: “On a day when we were celebrating the fantastic attendance and punctuality of our pupils, it was wonderful to learn of the amazing achievements of two of our teachers too.

“We certainly have a very talented team at Parklands!”
