HIGHWAYS chiefs say gritters are on priority routes in Chorley and South Ribble today.
Lancashire County Council posted a statement on their website this morning saying that the roads were gritted from lunchtime.
A spokesman said: "We have weather predictions of frost with temperatures falling well below zero. We will apply salt to all priority routes.
"Please drive carefully even on treated surfaces.
"Priority routes only cover a third of the highway network and ice patches can develop on treated surfaces caused by water run-off from fields or other sources. Ice is most likely on untreated surfaces."
