WORK on the Market Walk development is going to schedule according to council chiefs.

Rumours were circulating on social media at the weekend that work had halted over concerns about an ancient wall had been found underground.

However, Cllr Alistair Bradley, leader of Chorley Council, said the rumours were ‘not true’ and it was ‘disappointing to see misinformation being posted’.

He added: “The piling for the foundations is approximately 50 per cent complete and is on track as planned.

“Now we’ve started work we’re seeing more interest from well-known brands and we’ll hopefully have some more positive news on who is coming to Chorley in the near future.

“The new two-level Friday Street car park will be open in time for the Christmas lights switch on and we’ve just opened up dozens of free parking spaces on Park Road.”
