A SCHOOL in Chorley and another in Leyland will close on Wednesday for staff and pupils to attended the funeral of a popular teenager.

Grace Fernando, who attended Leyland St Mary's Catholic Technology College, battled with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that affects bones or the tissue around bones, since 2015.

The 15-year-old died on route to Manchester Children's Hospital last Tuesday.

Euxton St Mary's Primary School along with St Marys Catholic Technology College in Leyland are set to shut as the requiem mass at St Mary's Church at 11am .

Dad Roy Fernando said the service would be a celebration of her life.

He said: "Grace was part of the community and lots of people raised money for her for her for treatment.

"Her uncle Father Anton Fernando will be doing the service and we are expecting a big crowd of people attending."
