BURNLEY FC manager Owen Coyle officially opened an extension that made Motorpoint the biggest car super-market in the North West of England.

The car supermarket has doubled in size, with bosses saying they were benefiting from the effects of the credit crunch as people looked for discounted cars.

The company has turned its previous four-and-a-half-acre site into almost 10 acres in a multi-million pound investment.

Bosses expect that the development will lead to the creation of 10 new jobs.

Yesterday Mr Coyle, who led the Clarets into the Premier League via a thrilling play-off final win, official opened the new development.

Work began in early Feb-ruary on transforming the former Cloverbrook textile factory in nearby Gannow Lane ready for use.

Jon Grace, general man-ager at Motorpoint Burnley, said: “We are very pleased with trade at the moment and business is better because of the credit crunch.”

Motorpoint is currently selling in excess of 7,500 vehicles a year from the Burnley site, though it expects that will rise The new buildings will house Motorpoint Burnley’s vehicle preparation unit, including a dozen workshop and valeting bays, together with a storage area for vehicle deliveries.

There will also be the introduction of Auction-4Cars, a fee-free online auction website for indep-endent car dealers.
