A HORSE got trapped in a canal and had to be rescued by firefighters.
The animal was led to safety after it got into the canal near Molly Wood Lane, Hapton just after 1pm on Monday.
A spokesman said: "A horse had got into the canal and couldn't get out.
"Two fire engines and crews responded, from Burnley and Nelson, and firefighters rescued the the animal and led it to safety."
It is understood the animal was able to walk out of the canal.
