A MEMBER of a community mental health group hit the streets of Blackburn to take part in a litter pick.

Andrew Lord was accompanied by support worker James Lee Newton as they headed out to Preston New Road, Addison Street and Johnson Street to pick up rubbish.

The morning culminated with Andrew, 54, showing off his dancing and singing skills to passers-by outside Blackburn Town Hall.

Mr Newton is a support worker for Alternative Future Group and said the pandemic had made it more difficult for people to get out.

He said: “It has been tough for many people. Especially not being able to take part in activities outside like this.”

He added that litter-picking was important and it helped bring communities together.

He said: “It went really well and Andrew enjoyed it. The dancing and singing were fantastic. We are hoping to do it again and if anyone wants to take part, get in touch.”
