A TURKISH father accused of kidnapping his baby son insists he has done nothing wrong.

Anisa Khansia, of Little Harwood, claims her estranged husband Mehmet Baki Sakaraglu snatched 22-month-old Amani during an argument last month when she travelled to the resort of Marmaris.

But Mr Sakaraglu, who has appeared on Britain’s Got Talent under the stage name of Ali Baba, has given a different version of events, claiming his wife is an ‘unfit mother’ and that he has been granted custody.

In 2005, Mrs Khansia was jailed for six months and ordered to pay back £45,000 after buying a house in Tintern Crescent, Blackburn, with laundered drugs money.

Mr Sakaraglu, 27, said: “My son is not only British, he is Turkish too and I have the Turkish court papers to prove that until a divorce is finalised, I have custody of him.

“He is not allowed to fly.

“I did not kidnap my son, but she is spreading lies about me in newspapers and on Facebook. I’m not sleeping at night because of it and it’s making me ill.”

She said the prison sentence had ‘scared’ her and encouraged her to turn her life around.

Mrs Khansia said: “He knew about the jail sentence when he met me and long before we had a child together.

“He has not been granted custody, I have the papers to prove that Amani should be with me in the country he has always lived in.

“All he is doing is trying to rubbish my name.”

Mrs Khansia said that she is confident she will be able to get her son back under the Hague Convention, after employing lawyers to look into her case.

The Foreign Office has been notified of the dispute.

A spokesman said the matter was ‘contentious’ and that a police investigation was ongoing.

The couple married three years ago after meeting on holiday a year before.
