A BOROUGH has published its school term and holiday dates for 2022/23.

Blackburn with Darwen Council's Executive Board has approved the timetable.

The autumn term 2022 will start on Thursday September 1 and end at the close of school on Friday December 16.

The half-term closure will be from Monday October 24 to Friday October 28 inclusive.

The spring term 2023 will see schools re-open on Tuesday January 3 and close after school on Friday March 31.

Half-term will be from Monday February 13 to Friday February 17 inclusive

The summer term 2023 will start on Monday April 17 and end after school on Friday July 21.

There will be a May Day closure Monday May 1 and half-term will be from Monday May 29 until Friday June 2 inclusive.

Cllr Julie Gunn, Blackburn with Darwen education boss, said that as the four-day celebration for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee fell within the scheduled summer mid-term break schools will be able to select an additional day off to make up for loss of the extra Bank Holiday awarded by the government to mark the anniversary.

The proposed holiday pattern is binding on all community and voluntary controlled schools in Blackburn with Darwen.

Voluntary Aided and Foundation school governing boards in the borough are requested to give consideration to it when determining their school calendars.
