THE NHS has opened 20 new evening walk-in coronavirus vaccination centres across East Lancashire to boost uptake of the jab.

The move comes as 21 and 22-year-olds are being called for their Covid-19 immunisations.

The pop-up jab hubs opened on Thursday and will run until Saturday or Sunday.

They include one in Accrington, one in Darwen, two in Blackburn, one in Nelson, one in Clitheroe, and two in Burnley.

Some are offering first doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for younger people and some second doses of the Astra Zeneca jab for older residents.

The ACT Centre in Accrington is open from 9.30am and 6pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday days to offer second doses of the Astra Zeneca jab.

The Everest Pharmacy in Darwen us offering first doses of Pfizer vaccine and second doses of its Astra Zeneca counterpart between 8.30am and 8pm on Thursday, 9am to 1pm on Friday, 2pm to 6.30pm on Saturday, and 9am to 1pm on Sunday.

The Allied Pharmacy in Blackburn's Ivy Street Centre will be open on Friday from 9am to 5,30pm and on Saturday from 9am to 4pm to offer first doses of the Pfizer jab.

Taylor's Pharmacy in Nelson is open from 9am to 6pm on Thursday and Friday and from 9am to 5pm on Saturday to offer first doses of the Moderna jab.

Blackburn's Didsbury Street Mosque is open from 8am to 8pm on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for first doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

Clitheroe's Broadway Pharmacy in West Bradford Hall is open on Friday from 8am to 8pm, on Saturday from 8am to 6.30pm, and on Sunday from 8am to 6.30pm for the first dose of the Pfizer jabs and second doses of its Astra Zeneca counterpart.

Burnley's Stoneyholme and Daneshouse Centre is open from 9am to 6pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday for first doses of the Pfizer vaccine and second does of the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

A clinic in Burnley's Charter Walk Shopping Centre is open from 8.30am to 7pm on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for first Pfizer jabs and second Astra Zeneca ones.
