LANCASHIRE bishops give joint statement for remembrance Sunday.
As churches of all sizes across the county prepare for Remembrance Sunday services this weekend Lancashire’s Anglican Bishops will attend two County events.
Diocesan Bishop and Bishop of Blackburn, Rt Rev. Julian Henderson, will be at St Paul’s in Adlington and the Bishop of Burnley, Rt Rev. Philip North, is attending the Burnley Peace Garden Memorial and Towneley Park Memorial from 10.30am.
Bishop Julian and Bishop Philip have encouraged everyone across Lancashire to attend a service near to them and to pause for two minutes on Sunday to remember the sacrifices made, particularly as the nation continues to mark ongoing centenaries in relation to World War One.
Issuing a joint statement they said: “At this time of year we remember the horrors of war and the deep wounds of trauma that can scar for years to come.
“It will be a privilege to join with the people of Lancashire to remember before God the sacrifices across the years of many brave men and women."
