A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after being cut of a car by firefighters at the scene of a crash in Blackburn this afternoon.
The two-car collision occurred near to Premier Express in Albert Place, Lower Darwen, shortly after 1pm.
Firefighters used hydraulic and electric tools to release the woman and she was taken to Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital with back pain by ambulance.
A second patient was treated at the scene for minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.
A fire service spokesman said: "Two fire engines from Blackburn responded to a road traffic collision between two cars at which a casualty had to be rescued from one of them.
"Firefighters used hydraulic and electric tools to release the casualty and she was taken to hospital by ambulance."
An ambulance service spokesman said: "We were called at 12.50pm to an RTC outside Premier Express in Albert Place, Lower Darwen.
"Two ambulances attended and a woman with back pain was taken to Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital.
"A second patient was treated at the scene for minor injuries but did not need an ambulance."
