A CCTV image of a woman police want to speak to in relation to an alleged fraud at a Darwen off licence has been released.
Officers believe the shopkeeper at the Boozepoint shop in Bolton Road, was deliberately defrauded out of £50 after being confused during a request to change a note.
The incident took place shortly before 3pm on August 14.
The woman is described as white, slim, aged in her 20s with long purple hair.
She was wearing a baseball cap, pink t-shirt, black jacket and blue jeans.
Police are now urging other shopkeepers to be vigilant.
PC Amanda Bleazard, leading the investigation, said: “I would appeal to anybody that recognises the woman pictured in the CCTV image to come forward and contact police on 101 quoting crime reference EA1207287.
“It is possible this fraud may have been attempted elsewhere so I would urge shops to be watchful and to report any concerns to police.”
