PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has contacted the Environment Agency about the cost of home insurance in parts of Barrowford.
A number of properties near to Nelson and Colne College and ACDC Lighting are still classed as being at risk of flooding, despite benefiting for flood defences built in 2005/06.
The most recent National Flood Risk Assessment which was carried out in 2008, takes account of these flood defences and the protection they offer, however still classify the risk to the area as ‘moderate’.
Mr Stephenson said: “Whilst Barrowford has suffered from significant flooding in the past, residents I have spoken to have told me that the flood defences have worked well, even during the recent appalling weather that left many parts of East Lancashire under water.”
