THE funeral has taken place of an “inspirational” 32-year-old woman who died after battling cancer.

After being told she had months to live, Kathy, from Hapton, brought forward her wedding, marrying fiance Carl Morris, 41, in February.

The primary school teacher, who most recently taught at John Southworth Primary School, Nelson, also brought comfort and inspiration to other cancer sufferers by writing about the disease for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The hundreds attending Burnley crematorium yesterday were asked to wear bright colours, a wish conveyed by Kathy in her final days. She was described as having “loyal friends of all ages’ and ‘loved by many”. Her family have requested any donations in her memory be sent to Pendleside Hospice, where she died last week.
