ALL-rounder Max Howells has made a return to the Foster’s Lancashire League – but the former Lowerhouse and Padiham ace has opted for a new club.

The 19-year-old has signed for Nelson but is only allowed to play for the second team between now and the end of the season after joining the Seedhillites from Liverpool Competition outfit Rainhill because of league rules.

Howells, who started out with Read, was the youngest man to play for Lowerhouse when he made his debut in the derby with Burnley in July 2007 before moving to the Ribblesdale League with Padiham in 2010.

Howells headed off the the Liverpool Competition to play for Rainhill where he has played 11 times.

“It just got too much travelling,” said Howells. “I am only allowed to play seconds for Nelson until the end of the season though and I am pretty gutted that I can’t play first team cricket just yet.”

Howells made his Nelson seconds debut on Ssaturday in the game with Bacup.
