A RESTAURANT in Fence has been selected as the final venue in the Taste Lancashire Produce dining programme.

The Sparrowhawk, in Wheatley Lane Road, has been chosen to host the Marketing Lancashire event, which is designed to demonstrate the abundance of superb produce available across the region and the creativity and talent of local chefs.

Diners enjoy a locally-sourced, three course meal for £20 and get to meet one of the rural producers who has contributed to the special menu.

Cooking on the night will be 18-year-old Luke Payne, from Nelson, who is the youngest chef in the current programme.

Chris Wrathall, head chef at the Sparrowhawk said: “We are thrilled to host Marketing Lancashire’s Taste Lancashire Produce Evening and very proud to see Luke in the spotlight.

“Luke’s menu shows his love of Lancastrian favourites, especially his passion for desserts, and it also shows he is not afraid to try and improve even established classic dishes.”

The guest producer attending the evening, on July 11, will be Leagram’s Organic Dairy, based in Chipping, in the Ribble Valley, whose cheeses feature on the menu.
