A ROAD safety campaign is to be run in two Burnley wards.

The work in the Rosegrove with Lowerhouse and Coalclough with Deerplay wards will centre around the local primary schools and will involve a combination of education and enforcement action.

Pupils will get involved in restorative justice interventions to help drivers understand the dangers of speeding, and will also receive lessons in road safety delivered by their local neighbourhood officers.

Activity will also be conducted in conjunction with the local Road Policing Unit who actively target areas that are raised through the PACT meetings as being of concern.

Mrs Gray, the head teacher of Cherry Fold Primary School, said: “Speeding outside schools is always a concern for us and we are delighted to be working with police to educate both our pupils and drivers to increase safety on the roads.”
