WITNESSES are being urged to come forward after a police officer was knocked down in Oswaldtwistle.
The uniformed officer was stood by two police cars near a bus stop opposite West End Post Office on the A679, Blackburn Road, when a maroon fiesta drove into him and failed to stop.
Sergeant Alison Crew said the officer was not seriously injured, adding: “It is likely that the Fiesta may have sustained near side wing mirror or panel damage therefore I’d appeal to anyone who has knowledge of any cars fitting the description with similar damage or anyone who may have carried out repairs to similar vehicles to contact police.” Police also wish to speak to two women waiting at the bus stop and the driver of a vehicle waiting to turn right into a street at the side of West End Post Office when it happened on March 27 at around 12.15pm.
