FIRE crews were called to the scene of an intense house fire in Blackburn this evening.
Two crews from Blackburn attended the blaze at Scotland Bank Terrace, off Livesey Branch Road, where the first floor of the property was well alight.
The blaze tore through the upstairs level of the house and caused smoke damage to the rest of the property.
Police officers were also at the scene where a crowd of neighbours gathered to watch crews tackle the fire.
The mid-terraced house is occupied, but no one was at home when the blaze began in a bedroom at 7.45pm. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are investigating the cause of the fire.
