A DISPLAY of excavations from ancient Egypt has gone in display at Towneley Hall in Burnley.
‘From Egypt’s Sands to Northern Hills’ features Professor John Garstang’s excavations in this travelling exhibition.
Collections from Towneley Hall will be displayed alongside those from Blackburn and Kendal museums, and the School of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology, University of Liverpool.
The exhibition will run until June 28.
Mike Townend, keeper of history at Towneley Hall, said: “We hope that the Egyptology exhibition attracts a lot of visitors, both local and from further afield, as it really will be an interesting experience for all the family, young and old.
“We are lucky to be hosting such a varied exhibition, and it is a great addition to our 2012 programme which got off to a great start in January with the ‘Hidden Treasures’ series.”
