In the crowded post-sampling retro-jazz genre, Swedish duo Koop's swinging rhythms stand out like a breath of sweet, refreshing Caribbean air.
Though evoking 1930s swing and 1940s cruise orchestras, none of the songs sound even a little bit old.
Imagine being caught up in a whirlwind romance; drinking, dining and dancing under the stars on a tropical island. This would be the soundtrack.
There's gentle serenading from Mikael Sundin on Let's Elope; a beautiful otherworldliness on Come To Me; tribal drums, jaunty woodwind and the estimable vocal talents of Earl Zinger (aka ex-Galliano frontman Rob Gallagher) on the shiver-inducing Forces Darling.
I could go on - every track on Koop Islands glows with sweet, light intensity.
Possibly perfect.
