A MAN who had one too many at a working men's club was found urinating on the beer barrels in the cellar.

Burnley magistrates heard how Graham Banks, 32, refused to leave, was abusive and lashed out, hitting a cooling vent.

Banks, of Extwistle Street, Nelson, admitted damage and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour on September 22.

He was given a 12 months conditional discharge and must pay £200 compensation. He told the court: "I was drunk. I apologise for everything I did."

Andrew Creswell, prosecuting, told the court the defendant was at Brierfield Working Men's Club and found his way into the cellar.

Staff went to investigate and found him urinating. He was asked to leave, refused, became abusive and threatened anyone who tried to move him would get hit.

Mr Creswell said police were called and Banks continued to be offensive and lashed out. Officers tried to reason with the defendant and asked for his details, but he provided fictitious addresses and was told to stop being stupid. He abused police, was warned and was arrested.

The prosecutor said when interviewed, Banks said he had had far too much vodka and claimed when he had vodka he did silly things.

He told police he remembered being in the club, but did not recall a great deal after that.
