STUDENTS and parents are invited to view the first phase of a £38million plan to turn Blackburn College into a world- class campus.
The college is hosting an open evening from 5.30pm to 8pm on Tuesday, which will feature a model version of its £8.7million four-storey sixth form college and IT building.
The event is expected to attract hundreds of students who will be the first to use the new building when it opens in September next year.
There will also be demonstrations and the chance to meet tutors, discuss options and see what courses are on offer.
The sixth form is the first piece of the jigsaw to transform the college into a world-class campus by 2009.
As first revealed in the Lancashire Telegraph, the multi-million pound revamp has been prompted by governors who want the college to "meet educational challenges of the future".
Located next to the new Victoria Building on Blakey Moor, on the site of the old courts building and covering 5,500sq ft, the centre will house 700 sixth form and IT students.
