A CRIME thriller topped the list of the most popular book in Blackburn with Darwen libraries last year.
The Worst Case by James Patterson was borrowed more than 300 times by people in the borough in 2011.
The book is the third in a series by the New York author and features American psychologist Alex Cross.
According to Blackburn with Darwen library staff, the most popular adult non-fiction title was the Official DSA Theory Test for Car Drivers by the Driving Standards Agency, a perennial favourite.
Learner drivers also made great use of Theory Test Pro, a web-based driving theory test service, which uses the official questions from the DSA, including hazard perception video clips.
It includes an online version of the Highway Code and can be accessed from the comfort of home, using a library card to log-in.
Two picture books tied as the most popular children’s titles borrowed.
Ten in the Bed by Penny Dale and Aliens Love Underpants by Clare Freedman, while the most popular non-fiction book for children was Horrid Henry’s Jolly Joke Book by Francesca Simon.
