POLICE in Nelson will be canvassing public opinion this week during a roadshow in the town centre.
The StreetPACT event will take place on Saturday, from 9am to 4pm, outside Woolworths.
As well as giving residents and shoppers a chance to meet their local officers, the event will also be used to canvass opinion on a proposed alcohol control zone for the town centre.
Town Centre Neighbourhood Police Officer PC Mark Dibb said: "The StreetPACT event will give local residents and shoppers the chance to come along and meet their local Neighbourhood Policing Officers and get to know them better.
"It will also give them a chance to have their say on issues that matter to them including the new alcohol control zone which is being proposed for the town centre.
"If you care about your community and want to have a say on how it is policed, then please come along and see us.
"We want as many local people as possible to come into town and speak to us."
