WORRIED police are searching for a Bacup pensioner who went missing during a shopping trip.

John Baldwin, 67, vanished while on a day trip and has not been seen since.

Mr Baldwin, had been on a day trip to Leigh, near Bolton, when he went missing.

The last sighting of him was in Leigh Market Hall around 2.15pm on Tuesday.

Mr Baldwin takes medication for a range of health problems including diabetes.

He did not have his medication with him when he disappeared.

He is described as stocky, 5ft 8in, with cropped grey hair and a pale complexion. He was wearing a navy polo shirt and black trousers with brown slip-on shoes.

Officers have already conducted checks with some of his friends and with local hospitals but so far, no one has been able to help locate Mr Baldwin.

Inspector Rob Campbell from Lancashire Police said the pensioner had never been missing before and concern was growing for his health and welfare.

He said: "In view of John's age and health we are very concerned for his welfare so we would very much like to hear from anyone who may have seen John since his disappearance on Tuesday."
