A COUPLE opened up their private lives to television viewers across the country to get advice from lifestyle experts.

And Carol and Martin Chadwick were told by life coaches Nick and Eva Speakman for the UKTV Style show this week that they needed to spend more time together.

The Chadwicks, from Hazel Street, Rising Bridge, applied to be on A Life Coach Less Ordinary' after receiving an e-mail from Hyndburn's Chamber of Commerce asking if any local businesses would be interested in receiving televised advice.

They were among a number of people - including celebrities Kym Marsh from Coronation Street and Big Brother transsexual winner Nadia Almada - to receive life coaching during the second series of the programme.

Carol, 38, said: "We have been running our business Panel Masters UK for two-and-a-half years and have three lovely children who require an equal amount of attention.

"For the past eight years we have also been converting a former working men's club into our family home.

"At times it has been hard to see the wood for the trees so we thought if the Speakmans could come up with any ideas to help us then why not?"

Martin, a trained joiner, added: "They separated us and took one of us out of the room, which made us feel quite vulnerable, but they just wanted to make sure that if we had any issues that needed clearing up we confronted them."

The advice has been easy to follow and the Chadwicks, who have been married for 11 years, are now getting to spend more time with each other and children, Callum, nine, and eight-year-old twins Antonia and Isabella.

Carol said: "We decided we work too hard.

"The Speakmans told us to stop picking up our phones to customers on a Sunday because they will call back on Monday and to make sure we had one day a week away from work where we would go out to lunch or do something nice and just be normal instead of rushing around."

She added: "It's quite ironic that they gave us that advice because when we left they carried on filming until 2am! But we hope that the advice they gave us will continue to be helpful."

l A Life Coach Less Ordinary is on UKTV Style at 10pm every night this week.
