RECREATIONAL and sporting facilities in Edenfield are set to be improved, and a new community centre developed.
The news comes after Rossendale Council agreed to lease the recreation ground to the local community association.
Plans by Edenfield and District Community Association include using part of the recreation ground to build a new community centre with changing facilities, and upgrading the rest of the grounds to bring them back into regular use for sporting activities.
Rossendale Council cabinet agreed to lease the recreation ground to the association in order for funding bids to be developed to bring about the hoped-for improvements.
The community association has been working with Groundwork Rossendale to identify potential sources of funding.
Fundraising for the project will be undertaken in association with Groundwork Rossendale.
It is hoped the improved facilities would generate additional income, which would help to sustain the enterprise in the long term.
