POST Office chiefs have apologised after a branch ran out of money.
Elderly people were unable to withdraw pensions at Little Harwood Post Office, Whalley Old Road Blackburn.
A nearby post office had shut, sending its regular customers to the Little Harwood branch.
A Post Office spokesman said: "Whalley Range Post Office closed temporarily but reopened later than originally planned, resulting in higher than expected customer demand at nearby Little Harwood Post Office.
"Unfortunately this meant that the Little Harwood branch ran short of cash, and we apologise to our customers for any inconvenience.
"Whalley Range Post Office has reopened, and we've put measures in place to make sure this doesn't happen again."
