THE speed limit in a residential part of a Ribble Valley town will be reduced to 20mph once signs have been installed in the coming weeks.
Work to install the signs in North Clitheroe’s residential streets will begin next week.
Lancashire County Council plans to lower the speed limit to 20mph in all residen-tial streets by the end of 2013 as an alternative to traffic calming measures.
It is part of a wider scheme to reduce the number of road accidents involving children and young people.
And it is hoped to encourage cycling and walking.
Construction of the scheme in Clitheroe is expected to be completed by the end of November or early December.
The county council will be working alongside Lancashire Police and communities to address speeding as the 20mph limits are being rolled out.
