A driver who got behind the wheel of a car for the ninth time while banned has been jailed for 120 days.
Mark Smith, 46, told police who stopped him he had deep vein thrombosis and was unable to walk far.
Smith, of Ford Street, Burnley, admitted driving while disqualified and no insurance. when he appeared before Burnley magistrates.
Smith had 56 previous convictions when he was stopped with two passengers after 10.30pm in Nelson.
Gareth Price, defending, said Smith accepted his decision to drive was foolhardy.
