A MOTHER of four attacked her then-boyfriend and her pregnant sister because she thought something was going on between them.

Burnley Magistrates Court heard how Lesley Jean Fallows had spotted partner Sean Cookson standing in her sister's neighbouring window in the early hours when she returned from a night out in Blackpool.

Mr Cookson told the defendant he was waiting for her but she did not believe him and punched him in the face before dragging sister Victoria out of bed by her hair.

Fallows, of Mere Court, Burnley, who struck while subject to a two year conditional discharge imposed for causing unnecessary suffering to animals, admitted two counts of assault by beating, on April 16. She was given a 90 day curfew, between 8pm and 6am and must pay £100 compensation and £100 costs.

Sentencing the defendant, who appeared in court on her 25th birthday, District Judge Peter Ward told her: "It might be a good idea to be in with your young children rather than getting drunk in Blackpool and coming back and getting in a fight with your sister."

Andrew Creswell, prosecuting, said Fallows had put two and two together and made five after seeing Mr Cookson in the window.

After hitting Mr Cookson and leaving him with redness and soreness, she went upstairs and dragged her five weeks pregnant sister out of bed. Victoria Fallows suffered a sore head and sore eye, but there was no harm to the unborn baby. The sisters were now reconciled.

Sajada Khan, defending, said the sisters just wanted to put the matter behind them. Fallows' behaviour was impulsive and not pre-planned and the injuries were minor.

The solicitor added the defendant, who was on benefits, was single was very lightly convicted. She had suffered post natal depression after the birth of her youngest child.
